Hermes Agent and Henchman agree on a lot: an assistant should remember you, get better at the jobs you give it, and be reachable from your phone. They’re built for different people.
Hermes Agent is a toolkit for power users
Hermes Agent comes from Nous Research. It writes its own skills after hard tasks, keeps a searchable record of past sessions, and runs scheduled jobs that report back to whichever chat app you like. It connects to Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal and email from one place, and to almost any model provider. Its code is on GitHub under the MIT licence. The trade-off is choice: you pick the provider, the model and where it runs.
Henchman is a crew on your Mac
Henchman is a regular Mac app. You hire henchmen with names, faces and personalities, and they share what they’ve learned about you. They show answers as cards, like a forecast or a map, take voice calls on your Mac, and you choose how much each one is allowed to do. The thinking happens on your Mac with open models you add, and you can text the crew from Telegram, Discord or Slack direct messages while your Mac is awake.
Which one fits
If you want the most chat apps, any model and a server that never sleeps, Hermes Agent is the stronger toolkit. If you’d rather have a private crew in a Mac app, Henchman is built for you.
