Every message you send to a cloud AI assistant travels to someone else’s computer. It might be stored, reviewed or used to improve their models. That’s the trade most assistants ask you to make.
Henchman doesn’t ask for it. Its crew runs on open AI models on your own Mac.
What stays on your Mac
- The thinking. Your messages, the replies and the reasoning in between happen on your Mac.
- What they remember. Your henchmen’s memory, and the profile they keep about your preferences, live on your Mac.
- Your files and voice. Documents you share and anything you say out loud are never sent to an AI company.
- Your secrets. Passwords and keys go into an encrypted vault, protected by your Mac.
When your crew goes online
A private assistant still needs the internet for some jobs, and Henchman is plain about when:
- searching the web and reading pages
- checking the weather, maps and prices
- your Google calendar and email, if you connect them
- Telegram, Discord or Slack, if you message your crew from your phone
Usage sharing is off unless you turn it on, and it never includes your conversations.
The trade-off
Models that run on a Mac are smaller than the biggest cloud models, so a cloud assistant will sometimes write or reason better. More memory in your Mac means a smarter crew. If privacy matters more to you than squeezing out the last bit of cleverness, that’s the deal Henchman offers.
